Orleans cultural guide
Whether into theater, opera or classical concerts, Orléans has plenty to offer all year long. Ticket prices vary greatly depending on what you want to see and temporary exhibitions are generally not included in the museums’ entrance fee.
The major venue for classical music is the Institut musical d’Orléans (4 place Sainte Croix). It also features jazz concerts and opera. Other music treats may be savored at Zenith Orléans (1 rue du President R. Schuman) which offers 5000 seated places or 6900 standing, and also at l’Astrolabe (3rd floor of Complexe du Baron, 1 rue Alexandre Avisse).
Theatrical performances usually take place at Carré Saint Vincent (bd Pierre Ségelle). The program includes both contemporary and classical performing arts and ticket prices are usually about 8€. Other hot spots for plays and theatres in Orléans are Théatre Gerard Philippe (Place Ste Beuve) and the small theater in parc Pasteur.
When it comes to films, Orléans has a lot of cinemas, the most popular being Multiplex Pathé (45, rue des Halles) and Cinéma UGC (Centre commercial Place d’Arc). Arthouse cinemas in Orléans where films generally run in their original language and have subtitles are Cinéma Les Carmes (7, rue des Carmes) and the evenings La Mairiée Desirante.
All in all, culture is everywhere in Orléans and its abundance is a true delight.
